Baseline Testing for Concussion Management & Post Head Knock Assessments

Concussions are an unavoidable facet of some sports that athletes, coaches, and parents need to be aware of. Concussion-related complications scarcely arise from the initial head knock but rather, the post-concussion management. One of the best ways to ensure that concussions are managed effectively and correctly is through baseline testing in the preseason.

The purpose of baseline testing is to capture baseline data of the athlete’s brain in an uninjured, normal state. Baseline testing looks at mapping out the core functions of the brain such as concentration, vision, memory, and balance, among various others, and establishes a baseline norm for the athlete.

This baseline data can then be used by any medical professional to guide their decision-making on returning to school, work and play, which, in turn, helps minimise the risk of prolonged concussion symptoms.

At BodyOptics, we offer baseline testing in-person or remotely via video consult. Our testing solution results in more accurate back-to-play recommendations for player protection and a less long-term impact for players who do experience a significant concussion.

The baseline testing program takes 15 – 30 minutes per participant and is delivered either in-person or online via online video consult, at an affordable per-player fee.
