Kristy Herd

Practice Principal and Physiotherapist

I began my first degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2003 while employed by the Australian Defence Force in Queensland, before completing my bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University Notre Dame Fremantle in 2009. I spent 8 years in the military and after completing my study, moved on to pursue a career as a private practice Physiotherapist. I am currently completing a masters in neuroscience.

Since graduating I have worked in various private practice and hospital settings including; orthopaedics, spinal rehabilitation, private practice, musculoskeletal in patients and outpatients, and have been involved in many sporting tournaments dealing with on-field injury management.

I now focus on concussion management and muscle/joint pain sports-related injuries. Over the years I have developed an effective approach to pain management by using movement analysis often involving video recording of movement patterns. In conjunction with this, I use a hands-on approach to treat pain and dysfunction such as specific soft tissue techniques including myofascial release, joint mobilisation and dry needling. Strength and restoring normal movement patterns are important for pain resolution so I have adapted the use of electronic exercise programs and regularly utilise gyms to assess movement and training techniques.

I am passionate about my profession and providing a high level of ongoing care to patients.
